(5) PACK - HOFFMAN TACTICAL TRIGGER KICKER - ACTIVE FORCED RESET MECHANISM MPN: TK-15-CO5
The Trigger Kicker is the simplest active reset mechanism on the market. Designed to replace the disconnector in an otherwise standard AR-15 fire control group, the Trigger Kicker is contacted by the hammer to reset the trigger, and then tucks under the standard safety selector to lock the trigger safely in the reset position until the bolt carrier can move back into battery. The Trigger Kicker is a 2 position mechanism made from 4130 alloy steel that operates in safe or fully semi-automatic only.
The Trigger Kicker is designed to function in AR-15 rifles with standard “mil-spec” bolt carriers and fire control groups. The Trigger kicker uses a standard safety and hence is “safe” and “active” only. The Trigger Kicker may be compatible with some AR-9’s and other platforms, but this remains experimental.
Key Features & How It Works The Trigger Kicker is engineered around a unique mechanical shortcut: it directly replaces the standard disconnector and its spring within a factory fire control group.
- Active Reset Behavior: When the rifle fires, the moving hammer contacts the Kicker. The Kicker forces the trigger forward into its reset position and temporarily tucks under a standard safety selector to lock it. Once the bolt carrier returns to battery, it pushes the Kicker forward, unlocking the trigger for the next shot.
- Two-Position Functionality: The device is not selectable. It functions strictly with a standard safety selector, meaning the positions are limited to Safe and Active (fully semi-automatic forced reset).
Compatibility & Tuning Requirements
Because the device relies on existing fire control components rather than a self-contained drop-in cassette, its reliability depends entirely on strict "mil-spec" geometry.
- Fire Control Group: It requires standard, mil-spec triggers, hammers, and pins. Minor variations in third-party or aftermarket trigger dimensions (tolerance stacking) can cause inconsistent behavior.
- Bolt Carrier Group: It must be paired with a standard, full-profile mil-spec bolt carrier.
- Buffer System: Because the system cycles very rapidly, Hoffman Tactical and testers recommend a heavier buffer weight (such as an H2 or H3 buffer) to slow down the cycle rate and prevent timing issues.
