MAS nitride BCG January 8, 2019 : Bryce Griffith from Lewis Center, OH United States   So after shooting me build for the first time (1/5/2019) i was getting several failures to fire due to light primer strikes of the tulammo i was shooting. Its all i own and all i shoot. I would say 12-15% FT Fire. I shot about 140 rds. And had a total 15 or so rounds with light strikes. The description says the firing pin is extended but looks identical to my 223 firing pin. And protrudes out of the bolt what looks to be identical as well. Ive ordered a new enhance firing pin from Red X arms to see if that fixes the light primer strikes. Super slick and looks fantastic. I just hope the gas key stakes hold. The dimple penetration seems a little light. I will keep an eye on it since had light staked keys loosen up on me so I am over cautious of them. Other than that concern, the bolt looks beautiful and has the MAS logo on it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Reply from MAS Defense: Bryce, all of our 7.62x39 BCG's have extended firing pins. Several dimensional changes are made to the firing pin to enhance it. The changes of roughly .02" would be difficult to view visually without any measuring tools. TulAmmo is notorious for being unreliable. We have experienced batches that fired 100% and other batches that fired less than 50%. Let us know how things turn out. Thank you for your review. Rugged and impeccably finished. August 26, 2017 : Rui D   This is my second Melonite treated BCG from MAS. I'm keeping the bolt as a replacement part for my 7.62 -who knows if I'll ever need a replacement- and putting on a 6.5 Grendel bolt instead.I want to take the carrier's weight, natural lubricity and durability to the 6.6 platform. Affordable prime BCG February 18, 2017 : Rui D   Now Melonited is my favorite BCG treatment. Or any other part for that matter. After 200 rounds there are no scratches and cleans with just a solvent soaked rag. For those concerned about cheap Russian ammunition, the firing pin has more than average seat depth to allow for reducing it some 10 thousands thus making the pin penetrate the primer slightly deeper. It was not necessary in my case as all rounds fired, but its nice to know it is there. Was this review helpful to you?
