Blem items are supposed to have cosmetic defects, but nothing that would impede the functioning of the gun right? Well a couple things. first of all, the place where the dust cover is supposed to click into, was not machined out enough, so the dust cover wouldn't close. This was the dust cover including with the upper, so it wasn't the wrong brand or anything (I compared it to another upper I had, to make sure I wasn't just seeing things either). But, no biggie, ten minutes messing around with a file had it to where it opened and closed fine. However, then I noticed that there was a bur on the interior of the upper, where the hole for the forward assist is drilled during the machining process. This would not allow the bcg to slide down into the upper. Then I took a chisel and hammer, knocked the bur off, and took a file and sanded it down a bit more. Now it works just fine, and I love MAS defenses stuff, but theoretically, it should have been fine as soon as I pulled it out of the box. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAS Defense Reply: JD, I apologize for the issue. I think that upper receiver was inadvertently placed in the Blem section when it should have been placed in the Bad section. Granted we rarely ever see bad parts, they do exist from time to time. Please let us know if you would like us to replace the upper or we can make it up on your next order. I apologize again for the issue. Thank you for your business and your feedback!
